Power Supply Troubleshooting Guide

Instructions
1. Unplug the mini drive power supply connectors.

2. Turn the computer on. If computer will not turn on proceed to step 3. If your computer does turn on, one of the drives was connected incorrectly or shorted.
Reconnect the mini drive connectors with proper polarity.

3. Unplug the AC power cord from the power supply.

4. Unplug the power supply from everything except one hard drive (for 500W+ models, use two high-capacity hard drives).

5. Plug the AC power cord into the power supply. Have the AC power coming directly from a wall outlet with no UPS, surge protector, or line conditioner in between.

6. Short between the green and black wires on the 20 or 24-pin connector, with a paper clip or piece of wire (see diagram).

7. See if the power supply fan is running. If so, your power supply is probably good.

8. Plug components back in - one at a time - to see what component is causing the short.

9. For a more convenient and complete test, purchase PC Power & Cooling's ATX Power Supply Tester.

Note: Diagram applies to all models except Turbo-Cool 475 A4. If you continue to experience difficulties with your ATX power supply, contact us.
