The ExtremeTech Killer Gaming Rig: 2005
Power Supply: PC Power and Cooling Turbo-Cool 510 SLI

PC Power and Cooling has long been the supplier of choice for premium power supplies. When we first started building the system, we obtained an Enermax 600W SLI power supply, but it was DOA. Given that experience, we went with PC Power and Cooling. (The "SLI" refers to the fact that the unit has two six-pin PCI Express graphics card power connectors).

PC Power and Cooling Turbo-Cool 510 SLI

While the Turbo-Cool 510 is "officially" rated at 510W, its current output stays steady even as the unit gets hot under heavy load. The overall feel of the unit is much more solid than lower cost supplies we've used, and the unit supplied power to our system without a single glitch. Our overclocked, liquid-cooled, 2.76GHz Athlon 64 FX-55 system with two 10,000RPM hard drives and dual 6800 Ultra graphics card never suffered any power-related issues.

The Turbo-Cool 510 SLI is the perfect match for any SLI system you can build today.

Product: PC Power and Cooling Turbo-Cool 510 SLI

Pros: Excellent performance and unbeatable current delivery.
Cons: Pricey; can get noisy under heavy load.
Summary: Offering unflappable current delivery under heavy load, the Turbo-Cool 510 SLI should be the power supply of choice for anyone's SLI system.
